About Us
Orbis was formed in 2023 by John Blanchard, Dan O’Connell, Matthew Rangeley and Sam Jones who having worked together since 2014 and previously were part of the management team at the highly respected MRB Consulting Engineers in Wetherby.
Orbis operate on a national basis with current projects all around the UK. Our growing client list ranges from household name developers, PLCs, landlords and pensions funds to individual private residential developers.

John Blanchard
Director
John is a vastly experienced electrical engineer with significant knowledge in the construction and property industries. He worked for a major electricity distributor for ten years before moving into consultancy.
He is well respected for his expertise and hard working attitude within the built environment community. John enjoys working collaboratively with clients and design teams to proactively identify strategies and solve problems.
Dan O’Connell
Director
Dan is a highly experienced electrical engineer previously working for both local, national and international scale M&E consultancies. Dan’s key skills lie in his ability to form strong professional relationships, understanding and developing complex and challenging briefs, and delivering technically and commercially engineered schemes.
Dan is adaptable and resourceful, responsible for both the day to day developing and delivery of multiple projects working closely alongside clients and design teams.
Matthew Rangeley
Director
Matthew is a mechanical engineer with extensive experience in the construction industry and dynamic building simulation modelling across various sectors. He is a qualified CIBSE LCC (Low Carbon Consultant) and Energy Assessor.
Matthew’s strengths lie in his technical understanding and ability to develop engineering strategies to meet the requirements of the project brief. His ability to communicate complex information to his clients enables him to form strong, long lasting working relationships.
Sam Jones
Director
Sam is a sustainability consultant, licensed BREEAM assessor and a qualified BREEAM Accredited Professional. He has undertaken and led BREEAM assessments on a wide variety of projects within both the private and public sphere targeting ratings up to Outstanding.
He is also an accredited CIBSE LCEA (Low Carbon Energy Assessor) with significant experience of undertaking energy assessments for planning, building regulations and EPC purposes.
